Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Turning Point Community Church in Lubbock, Texas as they search for their next Executive Director/Pastor. Turning Point Community Church is a growing, non-denominational evangelical church with a strong commitment to biblical teaching, discipleship, worship, outreach, and pastoral care. With more than 2,000 weekly worshippers across two campuses, Turning Point is living into its mission of “Changed Lives. Period.”

The Executive Director/Pastor will serve as a senior executive leader who helps Turning Point operate with greater clarity, alignment, effectiveness, and organizational health. This role exists to strengthen systems, leadership accountability, strategic execution, and operational oversight so the church can continue advancing its vision as one church with twice the impact.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A mature follower of Jesus with strong character, humility, emotional maturity, and a servant-hearted approach to leadership.
  • A seasoned second-chair leader who finds fulfillment in helping the Senior Pastor, staff, and church thrive.
  • A strategic implementer who can translate vision into clear priorities, actionable plans, and measurable follow-through. They have no desire to be a lead pastor.
  • Someone who understands, loves, and will thrive in West Texas culture

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Executive Director/Pastor will report to the Senior Pastor and serve on the Central Staff team. This leader will help Turning Point strengthen organizational health, align ministries around shared mission and strategy, and support a growing multi-campus ministry environment. The role is exempt, ministerial, salaried, and generally follows a Sunday–Thursday work schedule with occasional Saturday responsibilities.

In the first 12–18 months, success will include greater clarity and alignment across staff and ministries, consistent execution of strategic priorities, improved organizational sustainability, and a Senior Pastor who is increasingly freed to lead at his highest and best level. This person will work closely with the Senior Pastor, campus pastors, ministry leaders, operations leaders, and senior leadership to ensure that vision becomes reality through structure, accountability, and healthy ministry systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate current ministry trajectory and identify what is needed for the next level of growth.
  • Anticipate organizational challenges, opportunities, and capacity gaps before they become barriers.
  • Translate vision into practical, executable steps with clear priorities and sequencing.
  • Establish targets, metrics, and follow-through rhythms for senior leadership and ministry teams.
  • Reduce silos and reinforce collaboration across campuses and teams.
  • Monitor ministry health, staffing effectiveness, key metrics, and financial sustainability.
  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to the Senior Pastor, helping guard his time, focus, and leadership investment.
