Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Bayside Baptist Church in Harrison, Tennessee as they search for their next Operations Pastor. Bayside is a gospel-centered church near the Chattanooga area with a clear mission: to help people discover a life-changing walk with Jesus.

The Operations Pastor ensures Bayside can accomplish its mission by providing excellent leadership and management of its Finances, Facilities, Human Resources, Office Administration, IT, and Security.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A clear, proactive communicator who builds alignment and clarity across teams
  • A big-picture operator who can build scalable systems across multiple ministry-support lanes

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Operations Pastor is a key leader who strengthens the “engine room” of the church—building healthy systems, teams, and processes that support ministry effectiveness. This role partners closely with the Senior Pastor and works across the organization to ensure strong stewardship, clarity, and operational excellence.

This position includes both leadership and hands-on oversight, serving and supporting staff and volunteer teams while providing direction in areas such as financial management, facility planning, HR administration, technology, and security.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Finances: Oversee budgeting, financial operations, reporting, and policies; strengthen financial integrity and long-range planning

  • Facilities: Ensure buildings/grounds are safe and well-maintained; lead major projects/repairs and capital maintenance planning

  • Human Resources: Oversee onboarding/offboarding, handbook upkeep, job descriptions, performance reviews, personnel records, and benefits

  • IT & Security: Ensure IT systems/vendors meet ministry needs; oversee facility security, security leadership, and emergency policies

  • Team-building: Recruit and shepherd servant leaders to build healthy teams across operational ministries
