Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA, as they search for their next Pastor of Family Ministry. Grace Chapel is a vibrant, multi-site church with additional campuses in Wilmington, Watertown, and Foxborough. The church is known for biblical teaching, thoughtful engagement with culture, and a welcoming, accessible presence in the community. Marked by racial and ethnic diversity, strong children and student engagement, and a deep commitment to discipleship across all ages, Grace Chapel seeks to form disciples who thoughtfully and faithfully follow Jesus in today’s world.
Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA, is seeking a Pastor of Family Ministry to bring a unified vision, alignment, and operational excellence to next-generation ministries across four campuses. This is a highly strategic role in a complex, multi-site church that desires to disciple children and students from birth through high school with clarity and consistency
The ideal candidate will be:
A former “player” in children or student ministry who understands the realities of frontline ministry and can now coach, develop, and strengthen others. Must bring credibility from experience and the ability to elevate those currently leading on each campus.
Demonstrated ability to create and implement a cohesive discipleship vision across multiple locations. Can centralize strategy while empowering local execution, ensuring alignment without erasing contextual strengths.
Highly organized and administratively skilled. Able to build systems, establish standards, improve transitions (especially 5th–6th grade), and ensure consistent execution across campuses. Brings clarity where complexity currently exists.
Deeply rooted in historic Christian orthodoxy, while able to navigate complex theological and cultural issues with wisdom and balance. Embodies Grace Chapel’s convictional center—firm on core gospel truths and gracious on secondary matters.
Raises the level of ministry effectiveness while genuinely caring for staff and volunteers. Holds teams accountable to excellence without micromanaging, strengthening both results and relational health simultaneously.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Pastor of Family Ministry at Grace Chapel is a high-impact, strategic leadership role designed to shape the spiritual formation of the next generation across a thriving, multi-site church. This position provides visionary and centralized oversight for ministries serving children (birth–5th grade) and students (6th–12th grade), ensuring a cohesive discipleship pathway from early childhood through young adulthood. With weekend attendance around 3,000 across multiple campuses, this leader will build a unified strategy while empowering campus teams to execute ministry locally with excellence. The role requires an experienced multi-site leader who can align curriculum, programming, volunteer development, and family engagement into a clear, reproducible model that strengthens biblical literacy, spiritual formation, and leadership development across all campuses.
This opportunity exists because of a growing need for centralized leadership and renewed investment in Next Gen strategy. The church is committed to building and planning programs centrally while executing locally to best serve families. The ideal candidate will be a spiritually mature, visionary team builder with at least 10 years of experience in children, youth, or family ministry within a multi-site context. They will champion volunteer recruitment and development, equip parents as primary spiritual leaders, oversee major initiatives like Kidsweek (VBS) and summer student service projects, and collaborate closely with campus pastors and ministry leaders. This is a unique opportunity to shape the long-term spiritual landscape of families throughout Greater Boston by building a unified, scalable, and mission-aligned Family Ministry for years to come.
