The Shepherd’s Staff is honored to be working with Shandon Baptist Church in Columbia, SC as they search for their next Student Pastor. Shandon has a long and storied history of impactful ministry in Columbia and throughout the state of South Carolina. Over the years, the church has become a substantial force for grounded biblical teaching, worship, discipleship, and ministry programming in the community. Shandon is a loving, well-resourced, and highly relational multi-generational church that is experiencing renewed momentum and vision under the leadership of Senior Pastor Daniel Dickard.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a strong and dynamic student ministry leader to step into a ministry with healthy foundations, committed volunteers, and tremendous future potential. The church is making a major investment into the next generation through the development of a new sports and recreation facility that will become a central hub for student ministry and outreach in the years ahead. The next Student Pastor will have the opportunity to help shape and build one of the premier student ministries in the Southeast.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A highly relational and evangelistic leader who actively engages students beyond church walls through schools, extracurricular activities, and community presence
  • A gifted communicator with both spiritual depth and the ability to connect emotionally and relationally with students and parents
  • A strategic ministry builder who understands purposeful programming and discipleship-focused ministry environments
  • A proven developer and mobilizer of volunteers and leaders who can empower others and multiply ministry influence
  • A mature and driven leader with relational grit, ministry wisdom, and a long-term investment mindset
  • A collaborative team player who values church unity, healthy staff culture, and alignment with the mission and vision of the church
  • A leader who demonstrates strong theological alignment with conservative Baptist theology and the Baptist Faith and Message

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for all aspects of the student ministry at Shandon Baptist Church
  • Develop and implement effective outreach and discipleship strategies for middle and high school students
  • Build meaningful relationships with students, parents, schools, and the surrounding community
  • Recruit, equip, empower, and shepherd volunteer leaders and ministry teams
  • Create purposeful ministry programming, events, retreats, and environments that support evangelism and discipleship
  • Lead and communicate in large-group teaching environments with biblical depth and relational connection
  • Develop leadership pipelines that equip students to disciple and influence other students
  • Collaborate with church staff and leadership to support the overall mission and vision of Shandon Baptist Church
  • Provide strategic direction for the future growth and structure of the student ministry
