Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with First Baptist Church Cherryville in Cherryville, North Carolina, as they search for their next Senior Pastor. First Baptist Cherryville is a historic Southern Baptist congregation with deep community roots, a strong missions heritage, and a growing culture of relational care and congregational involvement. The Senior Pastor will serve as the church's primary spiritual shepherd and ministry leader, faithfully preaching God's Word while helping strengthen discipleship, unify generations, develop leaders, and expand the church's impact throughout Cherryville.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A biblical preacher and spiritual shepherd who teaches with clarity, conviction, and practical application.
  • A highly relational pastor who connects naturally across generations and is present in the church and community.
  • A unifying leader with high emotional intelligence who can navigate change with courage, humility, and grace.
  • A visionary leader and developer who equips staff, volunteers, and lay leaders rather than carrying ministry alone.
  • A community-minded disciple maker who can move people from connection to spiritual growth and service.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preach and teach Scripture faithfully while providing spiritual and theological direction.
  • Shepherd the congregation through prayer, pastoral care, presence, and meaningful relationships.
  • Cast and communicate vision that aligns staff, committees, volunteers, and ministries around a common mission.
  • Develop and equip staff and lay leaders while strengthening accountability, communication, and shared ownership.
  • Advance discipleship, missions, community engagement, and outreach to children, students, families, and adults.
  • Steward church resources and facilities wisely in partnership with church leadership.
