Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Northside Church in Jackson, Tennessee, as they search for their next Next Generation Pastor. Northside Church is a non-denominational church that disaffiliated from the UMC in 2020 and is dedicated to sharing God's love and fostering discipleship. Their vision is to develop an authentic, grace-filled community of believers empowered to transform their city with the Gospel. Offering a variety of ministries, Northside serves local and global communities and emphasizes spiritual development through Sunday school, small groups, Bible studies, and age-specific programs. Welcoming individuals from all spiritual backgrounds, the church encourages members to use their unique talents in service.

Northside believes next-generation ministry is about more than creating excellent programs. It is about helping young people be known, grounded in Scripture, surrounded by trusted adults, and invited into the worship, service, and mission of the whole church.

The Next Generation Pastor will give primary, direct leadership to the student ministry while also encouraging and aligning the leaders who serve children and families. This person will join a collaborative pastoral team, contribute to the church's teaching life, and help build a healthy ministry that can flourish for years to come.

The ideal candidate will be:

• Next-Generation Unity Builder - Ability to connect nursery, children, students, young adults, and the wider congregation into a more cohesive next-generation ministry pathway.
• Parent and Family Engagement Builder - Ability to engage parents, pursue missing families, and create meaningful pathways for participation.
• Volunteer Team Developer - Ability to personally recruit, equip, delegate to, and retain healthy volunteer teams.
• Ministry Structure and Execution Leader - Ability to establish consistent systems and carry plans through within timelines and budgets.
• Trust and Momentum Builder - Ability to restore confidence, align existing leaders, and create sustainable ministry momentum.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This is a relational, hands-on pastoral role for a leader who loves students, develops people, and wants to help children, teenagers, and families experience one connected church home.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide direct leadership and spiritual vision for middle and high school students.
• Build meaningful relationships with students, parents, volunteers, and families.
• Recruit, equip, develop, and care for adult youth leaders.
• Supervise and support the Director of Children’s Ministry and Student Ministry Assistant.
• Build intentional pathways from children’s ministry through student ministry and into the broader church.
• Help develop sustainable ministry opportunities for college-age adults and young professionals as capacity grows.
• Participate in the broader pastoral and teaching ministry of Northside, including preaching approximately six to ten Sundays each year.
