Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Dawson Street Baptist Church in Thomasville, Georgia as they search for their next Associate Pastor of Music. Dawson Street Baptist Church is a warm, family-oriented Southern Baptist congregation known for its loving culture, blended worship style, and deep musical heritage.


The Associate Pastor of Music plays a key pastoral and leadership role, working closely with the Senior Pastor and church staff to plan, coordinate, and shepherd a comprehensive music ministry that supports the church’s mission “to love God and all people, to assemble ourselves together for praise and worship, and to reach and teach people to become disciples of Christ.”

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Associate Pastor of Music will lead a broad, multi-generational music ministry that includes worship choir, senior adult choir, children’s choirs, orchestra, handbells, praise band, and various ensembles. The church highly values worship as a core part of its identity and seeks a leader who can build on a strong foundation while helping unify the congregation through a blended worship style.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, coordinate, and evaluate a comprehensive church music program, including choir, orchestra, praise band, handbells, and children/youth music groups.


  • Lead and prepare worship services in partnership with the Senior Pastor, including congregational worship and special services.


  • Enlist, equip, and supervise music ministry volunteers and accompanists.


  • Oversee scheduling, rehearsals, music selection, and performance preparation for all groups.


  • Supervise audio/video ministries and collaborate with staff on worship production.


  • Provide pastoral care through visitation, prayer, and participation in church-wide ministry.


  • Administer the music ministry budget and maintain music equipment and resources.


  • Participate actively in staff meetings, leadership team meetings, and church planning.
