Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Poplar Springs Christian Church in King, NC, as they search for their next Worship Minister. Poplar Springs is a thriving, multigenerational church experiencing one of the healthiest seasons in its 120-year history. Under the leadership of Lead Minister Griffin Gilstrap, the church has experienced significant spiritual renewal, steady growth, and a renewed passion for helping people find and follow Jesus. Today, Poplar Springs is known for its healthy leadership culture, authentic community, biblical teaching, and worship that intentionally points people toward Christ.

This is not a ministry that needs rebuilding—it is a ministry ready to be shepherded into its next season. The next Worship Minister will inherit a healthy volunteer culture, strong congregational engagement, and a collaborative staff team while helping provide the pastoral leadership, spiritual depth, and vision needed to continue developing both the worship ministry and the church as a whole.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A spiritually mature worship pastor who leads people as well as music.
  • A relational leader who naturally develops volunteers and builds healthy teams.
  • A gifted musician with a passion for authentic, congregational worship rather than performance.
  • A collaborative teammate who thrives in a healthy, highly relational staff culture.
  • A visionary shepherd who can disciple people, cast vision, and help the worship ministry continue growing spiritually and organizationally.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership and vision for the worship ministry.
  • Plan and lead engaging, Christ-centered worship services in collaboration with the Lead Minister.
  • Recruit, disciple, develop, and care for worship and production volunteers.
  • Oversee worship planning, rehearsals, scheduling, and service preparation.
  • Lead and develop the worship and production teams while fostering spiritual growth and healthy team culture.
  • Help cultivate worship experiences that are authentic, Spirit-led, and aligned with the church's mission of helping people find and follow Jesus.
  • Collaborate closely with the ministry staff to support the overall vision and ministry strategy of the church.
