
Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Grace Chapel in Havertown, PA as they search for their next Lead Pastor. The next Lead Pastor at Grace Chapel will be a humble, visionary leader with skills in strategic planning. This position requires a great teacher who is engaging and connects well with others, showing a high level of emotional and relational intelligence. The person who fills this role must have a genuine love for people and embrace the church's multicultural vibe, working to make everyone feel welcome and valued.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a minimum of 5 years of pastoral experience
- Be spiritually mature
- Be a capable teacher/preacher
- Have a shepherd’s heart
- Have seminary training
- Be culturally astute (aware both of current cultural issues as well as how to serve cross-culturally)
- Be non-divisive and able to have civil, respectful discussions when speaking Biblical truth to controversial political or social issues
- Have demonstrated desire and willingness to work in a shared leadership/team setting with the elder team
- Be in agreement with all doctrines outlined in our major doctrinal statement
- Meet the qualifications described in the Elder Job description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preaching
- Coordinate with paid and/or volunteer Elders to develop and implement the schedule for the teaching and preaching of God’s Word at services administered by Grace Chapel. Messages should be designed to equip, empower, and release the church body to the work of service.
- Provide 50-80% of the preaching/teaching for Sunday services, with actual amount dependent on gifting, desire, and the availability of other gifted teachers in the church.
Overseeing the staff
- In coordination with the Board of Elders and Deacons, work with Ministry Leaders and Church Staff to ensure that the various programs and ministry areas of the church are operating in a coordinated and organized manner. This would include oversight of paid staff and volunteer staff and ministry leaders.
Vision
- Collaborate with the Elders, Deacons, and Ministry Leaders to communicate and implement the mission, vision and values of Grace Chapel to ensure that all Grace Chapel ministries reflect those same priorities.
Counseling
- Engage in biblical counseling for the Grace Chapel and local communities, according to availability based on all other responsibilities.
