Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Cherry Point Baptist Church in Havelock, NC as they search for their next Lead Pastor. This role will provide spiritual and administrative leadership to the congregation, staff, and church ministries. The pastor will deliver biblically sound sermons that resonate across generations, cast and implement a vision for church growth, provide pastoral care, and strengthen youth and children's ministry areas. 


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Graduate of an accredited seminary or divinity school with a Master's degree. 
  • At least three years of experience in a lead pastoral role. 
  • Supports the Baptist Faith and Message of 2000 as a Statement of Faith. 
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in communicating through multiple media with church members. 
  • Successful experience sharing leadership responsibility with staff, deacons, committee chairs, teachers, and others. 
  • Participation in association and state Baptist organization and experience and encouraging church members to engage in active participation. 
  • Experience supporting mission involvement at the local, state, national, and international levels.


Responsibilities

  • Preach well-organized, Bible-based sermons and lessons.
  • Disciple members through Bible study and life application.
  • Ensure church programs engage all generations.
  • Oversee programs that equip members for discipleship.
  • Guide church committees to operate independently.
  • Support youth and children's ministries for growth.
  • Lead efforts to grow God’s Kingdom and reach the lost.
  • Help members find their gifts and serve in ministry.
  • Administer baptisms, communion, funerals, and weddings.
  • Cooperate with local and state Christian leaders.
  • Supervise and provide direction to church staff.
  • Advise members with compassion and Gospel truth.
  • Provide care, counseling, and crisis support as needed.
