
Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Greenwell Springs Baptist Church in Greenwell Springs, LA as they search for their next Pastor of Worship. Greenwell Springs is a strong church with a rich history in the community. They have recently called a new Senior Pastor who is setting a vision for reaching young families while ministering to a multi-generational congregation. The new Pastor of Worship will have a great opportunity to build on an already powerful worship culture and tradition at the church.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Must be a professing, born-again follower of Jesus Christ.
- Must live and serve in accordance with the biblically defined character and qualities of a Pastor according to 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
- Must be convinced of the inerrancy and truth of the Holy Scriptures.
- Must be committed to the advancement of the gospel of Jesus Christ through all areas of church ministry.
Accountabilities and Skills:
- Work in conjunction with the Sr. Pastor and the vision for GSBC.
- Coordinate all worship music, songs, and structure in cooperation with the Sr. Pastor to ensure that the music service is aligned with the text of the sermon each week.
- Develop a trustworthy relationship with choir, musicians, and singers as the pastoral leader of those volunteer groups.
- Develop a vision for the Music and Worship Ministry that involves people of all ages.
- Demonstrate basic proficiency in reading music and leading others to excel in their areas of leadership.
- Demonstrate and utilize personal skills in playing instrument(s) for worship leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate all music-related ministries, assuring that each is within the mission of the church.
- Lead the congregation in worship and song.
- Prayerfully select appropriate music for each service, recognizing the different worship preferences present in each.
- Provide directions for all choral, vocalist, and instrumentalists.
- Oversee the choice and purchase of music, sound, lighting, instruments, and other needed equipment for worship.
- Plan, oversee and direct all special services and events on the church calendar (Christmas, Easter, etc.)
- Communicate the vision and needs of the music and worship ministry to the Sr. Pastor and Executive Pastor.
- Prepare a proposed annual budget for the music and worship ministry.
