Shepherd Staff is honored to partner with Jordan Creek Church in Solon, Iowa, in their search for a Groups and Discipleship Pastor. Position Description

The Groups and Discipleship Pastor will be responsible for creating, growing, and maintaining a thriving Groups ministry, with a focus on fostering relational connections and discipleship within the church. This role involves strategic leadership, equipping leaders, and providing pastoral care, with the goal of helping the congregation grow in their faith and relationships with one another.


The ideal candidate will be:

  • A relational and approachable leader who connects deeply with people.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement a vision for group ministry.
  • A skilled teacher and communicator who can contribute to the teaching team.
  • Spiritually grounded with emotional intelligence and strong leadership skills.
  • Organized and capable of managing the administrative aspects of group ministry.


Position Overview

This newly created position is critical to Jordan Creek Church’s mission to foster relational discipleship and community impact. The Groups and Discipleship Pastor will lead the development and oversight of the Groups ministry, ensuring clear pathways for engagement and growth. The role includes supporting and equipping group leaders, as well as collaborating with the pastoral team and elders to shape the spiritual direction of the church.

Teaching responsibilities are a key part of the role, with the pastor contributing to the church’s teaching team for up to 40% of the year. The position also includes serving as a member of the elder board, providing spiritual leadership and care for the congregation.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the vision and strategy for the Groups ministry.
  • Equip and support group leaders with resources, training, and encouragement.
  • Foster connections within the church by creating clear pathways for group participation.
  • Collaborate with the pastoral team and elders to align the Groups ministry with the church’s overall mission.
  • Preach and teach as part of the teaching team, contributing to up to 40% of Sunday messages.
  • Shepherd individuals through pastoral care, crisis moments, and spiritual growth.
