FBCBA is a dynamic, multigenerational congregation deeply rooted in the heart of Oklahoma. Under the leadership of Senior Pastor Dr. Matt Brooks since 2020, the church emphasizes biblical preaching, expositional teaching, and life application, fostering spiritual growth across all ages. The Executive Pastor at First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow will translate the mission, path, and cultural DNA of FBCBA into action by aligning, leading, and empowering staff teams, ministries, and the visionary direction as led by the Senior Pastor. He will serve as a chief strategist and integratorbridging vision with execution—so that the Senior Pastor can remain in the upper altitudes of leadership and vision-casting. This role requires a ministry-minded strategic integrator who is Gospel-rooted, relationally intuitive, organizationally sharp, and resonates with the spiritual ethos of a Midwest ministry environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Executive Leadership

  • The primary responsibility of the Executive Pastor is to oversee and ensure the execution and fulfillment of FBCBA's mission, path, and priorities
  • This role will drive mission clarity, lead decision-making, and identify the most important issues requiring the Lead Team's time and attention. Additionally, he will lead and champion annual strategic planning, close the gap between vision and execution, define outcomes for each Lead Team position, manage goals and responsibilities for Lead Team, define outcomes for each Lead Team position, and ensure all teams are moving forward
  • Mentor the staff via spending time, helping with direction, providing challenges leading to personal growth, listening to concerns, serving as a trusted coach
  • Provide training, support, encouragement and correction to the staff as necessary, with an emphasis on identifying areas in which professional development is needed and prescribing development plans.
  • Recruit highly qualified individuals for staff leadership
  • Serve as chief architect for the mission and the ministries of the church
  • Sets clear expectations and holds team members accountable for them


Pastoring/Shepherding

  • Demonstrates Christ-likeness and a commitment to personal spiritual growth
  • Leads staff and/or volunteers by serving and not by asserting control
  • Utilizes emotional intelligence and is emotionally available to those he/she leads
  • Invests in the development of staff or volunteers around him/her
