Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Christ Community Church in Ames, IA as they search for their next Associate Pastor. Christ Community Church is a multigenerational, disciple-making church that has a heart for its community.


The purpose of this role is to help adults follow Jesus in a life-defining way by equipping and releasing leaders to effectively engage a disciple-making culture and provide pastoral care and counseling through the tough stuff of life.



The ideal candidate will be:

  • Relationally Focused: Passionate about connecting with and caring for people.
  • A Team Builder: Skilled in developing teams and training lay leaders.
  • An Experienced Leader: Capable high-level leadership, able to assist the Lead Pastor.
  • Pastoral by nature: Able to handle the Scriptures effectively in a ministry and counseling setting.


POSITION OVERVIEW

This role has been described as all the reasons you entered into ministry. This is a highly relational role that will be good at connecting people to places where they can grow, find care, and care for others. You will get to love people, help them connect, and be part of the teaching rotation on Sunday mornings. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Discipleship: Work with the Pastor of Discipleship in providing training and coaching to adults so that an active disciple-making culture thrives.
  • This includes providing support to oversee and implement an overall discipleship emphasis with adults(college-age and up).


  • Team Focus: Coordinating with and helping the Pastor of Discipleship in the teaching, equipping, and coaching of believers to engage their whole lives in discipleship. This includes helping to get people placed in various expressions of Connect Groups.


  • Pastoral Care and Counseling: Be the first-call person for pastoral care and counseling needs. (Counseling, hospital visits, funerals, and premarital counseling).
  • This will include developing and deploying a lay team to utilize their gifts for care ministry.
